Below we have listed some Arizona laws which, at least on the surface, seem to be just plain dumb. If you run across a law that you think is just plain dumb, e-mail it to us with a citation so we can verify it, and we’ll add it to our list!

Hunting camels in Arizona is prohibited.
The U.S. Army once experimented with camels in the Arizona desert, and eventually gave up. So they set the camels free, and now they are protected. -
You may receive 25 years in prison for cutting down a cactus.
This law was passed to protect the Saguaro cactus, which may take years to grow a foot tall, and was endangered by people who would shoot and cut down the treasured cactus for fun. -
Donkeys may not sleep in bathtubs. -
Any misdemeanor committed while wearing a red mask is considered a felony. -
In Maricopa County, no more than six girls may live in a house.
This was intended to prevent brothels, but did not plan for sororities. -
Anyone caught stealing soap in Mohave County must wash himself with it until it is all used up. -
In Mesa, it is illegal to smoke cigarettes within 15 feet of a public place unless you have a Class 12 liquor license. -
In Globe, you cannot play cards in a street with a Native American. -
In Tombstone, it is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling. -
Women may not wear pants in Tucson. -
In Prescott, no one is permitted to ride their horse up the stairs of the county courthouse.
